Encaustic painting combines beeswax and damar resin mixed with color pigments. This paint is then heated and applied in liquid form to a rigid substrate, usually a wood panel. Encaustic means "to burn in" which refers to the process of fusing the paint. With this medium, I am able to achieve depth and translucency as well as interesting texture in my work.
